Editing and Editorial Management

Before submitting an estimate for your project, I will evaluate several pages of your manuscript and determine the level of editing or proofreading and draft a proposal outlining what I can do for you.

Common editorial rates – regardless of whether the fee is by project, per page, or hourly – tend to fall within the ranges indicated below. These should be used only as a guideline; rates vary depending on the nature of the work, the time frame of the assignment, the degree of expertise required, and other factors.

SERVICE | ESTIMATED PAGES | RANGE OF RATES

·       Developmental: editing: 1–5 pages per hour, $65–$85 per hour

·       Substantive: editing: 1–6 ms pages per hour, $65–$80 per hour

·       Copyediting: (basic): 3–8 ms pages per hour,  $45–$55 per hour

·       Proofreading: 7–10 ms pages per hour, $40 per hour

·       Editorial Consulting: By project only

·       Acquisition and Marketing Strategies: By project only

·       Strategic Planning: By project only

·       Staff Training: By project only
